We’d like to thank the following students and their teachers for their dedication to environmental education and their support of The Oxford Society and our efforts, both at Salt Creek Nature Sanctuary and in Costa Rica.
Brantner Elementary's third-grade class, led by Jamie Wagner and Treva Bedel, took time to learn about rainforests and raise money to acquire additional land in Tortuguero, Costa Rica.
Linda Sebastian and her fourth-grade class at Clermont Northeastern Intermediate wrote an original play, A Trip to the Rainforest, which they performed while learning about rainforests. They also created and sold note cards as a fundraiser for The Oxford Society’s conservation efforts in Costa Rica.
After studying organism interactions and biodiversity, Janet Maloney's Williamsburg Local fourth-grade science students decided to host a penny war to support the Almond Tree Program.
Carol Ogden and Mason Height's second-grade Science Lab raised money for the Green Sea Turtle Initiative in memory of Jim King, a much-loved teacher and colleague.
Debbie Tranter, Linda Poe, Marie Rich, and their third-grade students at Seipelt Elementary hosted the Green Sea Turtle Fair at Seipelt Elementary. As part of their classes' study of green sea turtles, the fair gave students the opportunity to organize bake sales, hold poetry readings, perform plays, and raise money for the Green Sea Turtle Program.
Carol Ogden and over 600 of Mason Heights Elementary’s second graders, participated in an extensive ecology/environmental science project focused on green sea turtles’ life cycles and interactions with humans. As part of this project, Carol’s students organized various school-wide activities to teach their fellow students about green sea turtles and raise money for the Green Sea Turtle Program. |
