Tortuguero's Oral History Program

Costa Rican
Gentleman and Child

Tortuguero's beauty and pristine condition is, at times, a mixed blessing. As the untouched habitat and scenery has drawn in tourists and new settlers, local traditions and culture have begun to slip away.

In order to prevent this loss, Tortuguero's Oral History will encourage awareness of, and respect for, the area's rich cultural heritage by providing workshops, lectures, translations of early histories, and other activities.
